James Francis Cameron is a Canadian director, producer, screenwriter, editor and environmentalist. He is best known for making sci-fi and epic films. Cameron was first recognized as director The Terminator. He has achieved other critical and commercial successes with Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the comedy horror film True Lies. His other big-budget works include Titanic and Avatar, and Titanic earned him the Oscars for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Film Editor. Avatar, filmed using 3D technology, also won a nomination for him in the same category. He co-founded production companies Lightstorm Entertainment, Digital Domain and Earthship Productions. In addition to directing films, he is also a marine explorer at National Geographic and has produced numerous documentaries on the subject, including Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep.
