Eric Ambrose Gordon Jr is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's Houston Rockets team. In high school, he was dubbed the "Basketball Grandpa" of Indiana during his senior year while playing at North Central High School. He is known, in part, for being the subject of a recruitment contest between the University of Illinois and Indiana University in the spring and summer of 2006; Due to Gordon's high level of talent and form that year, his recruiting received media attention. Gordon played a season in college basketball in Indiana and was considered one of the top college players in the country that year. He ended his first season leading the Big Ten in terms of points and ranked 19th in the country with 21.5 points per game. Gordon participated in the 2008 NBA Draft and was voted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers.
