Police continued their search for the gunman who opened fire on a subway train in Brooklyn on Wednesday, wounding ten people and disrupting New York City’s long road to post-pandemic normalcy.
The investigation centered in part on a man with ties to Philadelphia who police said rented a U-Haul van that was possibly linked to the incident on Tuesday.
According to the New York City Police Department, the incident occurred on a Manhattan-bound N subway car during the Tuesday morning commute, just before 8:30 a.m. ET.
According to an ABC News report, a man was seen on the train talking to himself before donning a gas mask and detonating a smoke canister widely purchased online before pulling out a.38-caliber revolver and opening fire.
According to authorities, he fired a barrage of at least 33 shots, killing ten individuals.
A law enforcement officer informed ABC News that the gun jammed during the incident, which is thought to have saved lives.
