Scott Gardner Shriner is an American musician best known as a member of the rock band Weezer, with whom he has recorded 10 studio albums. Joining the band in 2001, Shriner was the band's longest serving bassist. Before his music career, Shriner was a member of the Marines. At the age of 25, he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in music, studying at the Musician Institute. Shriner has continued to perform with several independent artists and toured as a member of the support group for Vanilla Ice, in support of the rapper's nu metal album Hard to Swallow. In 2001, Shriner joined Weezer on a temporary basis, following the sudden departure of bassist Mikey Welsh, who left the band for personal reasons. As a full-time replacement for Welsh, Shriner recorded for the first time on the band's fourth studio album, Clumsy.
